Disney & Drones

The Walt Disney Co. is asking the FAA for an exception and would like to use drones for entertainment purposes at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
In their application, Disney refers to the drones as "Flixels" and state that the entertainment purposes would include fireworks.  However, in keeping with safety Disney listed their safety precautions and stated that the drones would be flown mainly over water elements and restricted areas.

A few facts about the Flixels: They weigh no more than 10 pounds. Airtime would be no more than 10 minutes. And they will not disrupt national airspace over the parks because both theme parks are registered no-fly zones.
