Adventures by Disney: Rhine River Cruise

There are more to Disney vacations are more than just visiting theme parks in California and Florida. There is a cruise line, a luxury resort and spa in Hawaii and an adventure travel division aptly named Adventures by Disney.  These Adventure vacations take travelers all over the world - Europe, Asia, South Africa, Central & South America and more - for a culturally immersive experience that cannot be found elsewhere.

Adventures by Disney has River Cruise Adventures too! There are River Cruises along the Seine River; Rhine River; and Danube River.  This Adventures by Disney highlight focuses on the Rhine River Cruise Adventure, more specifically, the Rhine River Cruise: Food and Wine Epicurean Adventure.  I'm focusing on this specific Adventure as I will be on the September sailing with my family! This will allow me to provide you with detailed information of the Adventure, including a full review!

The Adventures by Disney Rhine River Cruise starts in Basel and makes stops in Strasbourg, Mannheim, Rüdesheim, Cologne and ends in Amsterdam. There are two versions to this sailing - the family friendly option and the food and wine focused sailing that is adults only. We are doing the later to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary.  Even though we are on the Food and Wine focused sailing, it does a lot of the same excursions and daily activities that the traditional Danube sailing does so you can get a good idea of what is offered on the Danube River Cruise through my review!

On this river cruise we will be visiting world-famous breweries, award wining wineries and local pubs, historic landmarks, participating in unique activities and much more! I'll be going into more details about the daily activities in a different post (that I will link once I've posted it) but I am really looking forward to exploring the medieval town of Riquewihr; going on a canoe trip through Strasbourg; touring the Heidelberg Castle; riding on the Rüdesheim Gondola Ride to Niederwald Monument; and going to the Van Gogh Museum with a painting workshop! And those are just SOME of the daily activities that are included on our Adventure!

Adventures by Disney has partnered with AmaWaterways, a leader in the river cruising industry, for their River Cruise Adventures. This partnership has created brand new ships for Disney's use that have staterooms that sleep families - a first in the river cruise industry! These new river cruise ships have staterooms that will fit entire families of 4 in one room.  The stateroom that we selected is a Category BB which will give us an outside balcony - if you've read my blogs on my previous cruises you know that one of my favorite things to do in the morning on a cruise is to have coffee on the balcony while enjoying the views so this was a 'must have' for me!

The layout for our stateroom, a category bb.
Another great thing about the ABD River Cruises is they are all inclusive - from having an outside stateroom (no windowless, interior staterooms here!); multiple excursions daily; Adventure Guides (they handle all of the details so we don't have to); local experts; all gratuities onboard; all onboard restaurants; WiFi on the ship; and much more. A unique perk to AmaWaterway ships is that they have complimentary bicycles for their guests to take out in each port! Looking forward to being able to just hop on a bike and explore these amazing cities!

Up next, I'll be highlighting the daily activities and excursions that were offered to us and the ones that we selected! Stay tuned!
