New MagicBand Options Coming Soon at Walt Disney World Resort

There is a certain magic and anticipation that comes with planning your visit to Walt Disney World Resort, especially when it is time to choose a MagicBand customized with your name and favorite color. Soon, there will be even more ways to further customize these beloved wearables!  

Soon, Disney Resort hotel guests and new and renewing Annual Passholders will have the option to upgrade, at a discounted price, from a complimentary solid-color MagicBand to one of more than 30 new MagicBand options featuring favorite Disney characters and designs. These new MagicBand options will be available for pre-arrival purchase at a special price of $14.99 off retail cost through the My Disney Experience website.

A colorful selection of complimentary MagicBands are still available for guests who choose not to upgrade to one of the new options, and these new design options can also be shipped to guests’ homes (U.S. addresses only) if ordered 11 or more days ahead of arrival and can be personalized if done so at least 6 or more days ahead of arrival. 

The MagicBand, which recently celebrated its fifth anniversary, effortlessly links the Walt Disney World Resort vacation choices and plans guests make in the My Disney Experience app – from entering the parks to redeeming FastPass+ selections, using dining plan credits, linking Disney PhotoPass photos and more.

Digital Key Coming to Walt Disney World Resorts

At Walt Disney World® Resort, the My Disney Experience recently introduced features like mobile order and online check-in that are providing you with additional choices to make your vacation even more enjoyable and convenient. Another exciting app feature has been revealed: a digital key.

This new feature in the My Disney Experience app will allow Guests to quickly unlock their hotel room using a digital key with mobile devices, providing another seamless room entry option that brings added ease and flexibility to your Walt Disney World experience. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be the first resort with this new features (and others to follow). 

Guests can also use the digital key to unlock the hotel entrance gate and common area doors requiring a key, which may include pools, fitness centers, elevators and club level lounges. Arriving travel parties that have checked in online may even use their digital key to bypass the need to visit the front desk, giving them the opportunity to go directly to their room when it is ready and start their vacation even faster. (If you prefer, you cans till use your MagicBand to enter your room during your stay).

So how does it work? To use the digital key, Guests can opt in and activate the feature on their check-in day through a brief set up process in the app. To enter their room, Guests tap the “Unlock Door” button and then simply hold their phone against the door lock. MagicBand 2 Coming to Walt Disney World Resort

A new MagicBand is coming to the Walt Disney World® Resort as part of their continuing push to innovate and personalize the Guest vacation experience.

As you can see in the photo, MagicBand 2 will feature a new design for the band itself. While the design helps make MagicBand 2 more versatile and customizable it’ll still work like the current MagicBand. You will be able to link My Disney Experience to their MagicBand 2, which can serve as a theme park ticket, access to FastPass+ selections, Disney PhotoPass card as well as a room key for Disney Resort Guests.

MagicBand 2 will make its resort-wide debut soon with Annual Passholders and then Disney Resort guests.

New MagicBand Packaging

Walt Disney World® Resort is always looking for ways to improve your experience while ensuring their products continue to support The Walt Disney Company’s environmental initiatives. Because of that, from now on Guests who receive MagicBands at home before their resort stay will have their MagicBands fulfilled in new packaging that is fully recyclable and printed on recycled paper!

This packaging will also contain the same collateral information on how to wear the MagicBand, how to use it in the parks and resorts, and RFID technology. The new packaging includes a sleeve on its left side, which is where the Walt Disney Travel Company luggage tags will now be located. The luggage tag straps can be found inside the gray MagicBand holder.
