Sneak Peek of Art Coming to Disney’s Riviera Resort

On his extended tours of Europe, Walt Disney fell in love with European art, architecture, food and, of course, stories. The art in Disney's Riviera Resort will reflect a European theme with a Disney twist! 

Here is a sneak peek of some of the European-themed art and décor that will be throughout the proposed Disney’s Riviera Resort when it opens in Fall 2019! Part of the sneak peek today is to show you some of the pieces as they will be displayed in some of the villas at the upcoming Disney Resort.



Throughout the resort and within the villas, you will experience a variety of art types including Disney concept art with European settings, posters of Disney films as released in Europe, archival photography of Walt’s travels throughout the region, and references to the ephemera and book titles Walt gathered on his journeys. 



Additionally, there will be more than 40 signature art pieces created just for Disney’s Riviera Resort featuring unique Disney character art inspired by the renowned artistic heritage found along the shores of the European Riviera. Authentic Crêperie Part of Upcoming France Pavilion Enrichments at Epcot

From its distant view of the Eiffel Tower to a waterfront reminiscent of the banks of the Seine, the France Pavilion at Epcot® has long possessed a certain je ne sais quoi, inviting Guests to linger in a setting inspired by the sidewalks of Paris. And soon, that invitation will be extended in a gastronomic experience as French as Renoir and Monet: the crêpe.

Scheduled to be built in an all-new location near the previously announced Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction, the new crêperie will feature the cuisine of celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse, the mastermind behind the pavilion’s Chefs de France brasserie and its celebration of gourmet cuisine, Monsieur Paul. With a menu inspired by the Brittany region of France, the new location will offer table service dining as well as a quick-service stop for Guests craving savory crepes called galettes and sweet crepes.

The restaurant is part of the multi-year transformation of Epcot and an enrichment of the France pavilion that includes—in addition to the classic “Impressions de France”—a “Beauty and the Beast” Sing-Along experience and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction,  in which you will virtually shrink to the size of French cuisine’s most famous rat and scurry to safety across the kitchen of Gusteau’s legendary Parisian restaurant. All are coming to the pavilion in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World® Resort.

Elsewhere in the park, new and enhanced films are underway, and construction continues on the new “Guardians of the Galaxy”-themed attraction and a first-of-its-kind area devoted to playful fun that’ll come to life under the dome of the pavilion previously known as Wonders of Life.

New Behind-the-Scenes Experience at Rivers of Light Coming to Backstage Magic Tour

There is so much to see and do at Walt Disney World® Resort, from exhilarating rides and attractions to spectacular shows and parades and more. But have you ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes to bring all that magic to life?

During the Adventures by Disney® Backstage Magic Tour, Disney fans can get an up-close look at the artistry, technology and wizardry behind Disney’s world-famous theme park entertainment. Encounter Captain Marvel in Disney California Adventure Park

The one and only Captain Marvel makes a triumphant arrival in Disney California Adventure® Park! Jaleo Opening at Disney Springs West Side

There has been much anticipation around the opening of Jaleo by Chef José Andrés, which celebrates traditional Spanish cuisine in a festive atmosphere. Today, we're happy to announce the wait is over – Jaleo at Disney Springs® West Side is slated to open for dinner on March 17, 2019.

This will be the fifth Jaleo location in the U.S., the first in Florida and the largest location to date. With a menu showcasing the rich regional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, Jaleo popularized tapas dining in the U.S. starting with its first Washington D.C. location which opened in 1993.

Jaleo at Disney Springs will feature an extensive menu of tapas, the traditional small plates of Spain, as well as savory paellas, sangrias, and a selection of Spanish wines and sherries. The celebration of these flavors in an inviting, vibrant atmosphere is a hallmark of all Jaleo restaurants. 

Jaleo offers an excellent selection of embutidos (cured ibérico ham, pork chorizo, and spreadable cured sausage) and quesos (cheese from cow, goat, and sheep’s milk). The Queso Massimo, an Asturian raw cow’s milk cheese made exclusively for Chef José Andrés and Jaleo, is cured for four months with the pulp from Asturian apples.

A variety of authentic paellas cooked over a wood-fired paella pit are a highlight and are available by the plate or pan. Select specialty paellas are available each night with entire pans prepared to order for eight or more guests and presented table side.

Ensaladas y Mas options include Gazpacho estilo Algeciras, the classic chilled Spanish soup made with tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers; Ensalada de coles de bruselas con albaricoques, manzanas y jamón serrano, a delicious dish of warm Brussels sprouts salad with apricots, apple, and serrano ham; and Ensalada de remolacha con citricos which is a salad of red beets, citrus, Valdeón cheese, and pistachios with sherry dressing.

Perfect for sharing will be traditional chicken fritters (Croquetas de pollo) and Aceitunas modernas y clásicas – ‘Ferran Adrià’ liquid olives and gordal olives stuffed with piquillo pepper and anchovy. A traditional Spanish omelette with potatoes and onions (Tortilla de patatas clásica) is also offered for the table.

This incredibly impressive and varied menu also includes seafood dishes such as sautéed baby squid from southern Spain with white beans (Puntillitas salteadas con alubias); seared scallops with pine nut sauce, raisins, and PX reduction  (Vieiras con salsa de piñones); and Gambas a la Zahara – buttery, garlicky head-on shrimp prepared table side for guests.

On the restaurant’s front corner adjacent to the Jaleo entrance will be Pepe by José Andrés, the first brick and mortar location of the chef’s popular Spanish food truck. Pepe will be open for lunch and dinner beginning March 17.

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

Guests can dream big and meet their favorite Disney Princesses at an all-new character dining experience coming to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa! Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures is the newest way for you to start your day at Disneyland® Resort. Dine on a delicious three-course breakfast and meet with their royal hosts for enchanting activities, intimate story time, a private portrait location and more, all within the elegant surroundings of Napa Rose.  

The first course kicks off with a selection of cold starter options, all of which are brought to the table for the entire party to enjoy! On the sweet side is the Sunrise Citrus and Vanilla Bun with raspberry glaze, Caramel Beignets, and a Chia and Granola Parfait with mango, kiwi, and coconut. A Banana Wrap with berry compote is a delicious option, too, along with assorted sliced fruits and berries.

Savory starters include a yummy open-face Ham and Cheese Sandwich with cranberry cream cheese and Mini Lobster Rolls (or Mini Hot Dogs upon request).

For the second course, Guests will enjoy a yummy buffet of entrées served up nice and warm. Kids will love the House Made Mac & Cheese and of course the Mini Chicken and Mickey Waffles served with maple syrup butter.

Other savory entrées featured on the buffet are Perfect Scrambled Eggs, Artisan Turkey Sausages, Roasted Tomato and Asparagus, and a mouth-watering Pulled Beef Slider with BBQ sauce and pineapple salsa served on a Hawaiian bun. There’s also Fresh Mint Papas Bravas with Romesco sauce.

And for dessert, you can indulge in a glorious assortment of sweets all brought to the table, featuring options like Chocolate Chip Princess Cake Pops, Almond Crunch with vanilla Chantilly, and Petite Raspberry Tarts. Guests can also try the Sea Shell Macarons with mango passion fruit ganache or the Strawberry Honey Sorbet with cotton candy and fresh strawberries.

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures occurs Thursday through Monday between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. and begins Saturday, March 30, 2019 and reservations are available now!

New Pirate & Mermaid Experiences at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

New experiences - from art classes and fishing excursions, to pirate experiences and mermaid schools and more - are already, or will soon be, available to book at Walt Disney World® Resort hotels.

Here’s a look at each new Guest offering:

Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Ahoy, mateys! Reservations are now open for a new group experience that invites young recruits ages 4-12 into the world of pirate feasting and treasure seeking, high-energy sailin’ and swashbucklin’ fun. The new Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew at Disney’s Beach Club Resort teaches youngsters pirate ways, and lets them follow clues that will lead to hidden treasure and being named to Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew. Armed with clues, young buccaneers will comb through the resort and set sail on a pontoon boat around Crescent Lake, in the latest seafaring adventure at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Once the treasure is unearthed, all join in a Pirate feast that includes selections such as Cannon Meatballs with marinara or macaroni and “gold” sauce for entrees, along with a treasure chest treat or fruit for dessert. Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew is priced at $55 per child (plus tax); the adventures begin April 28.

Note: This experience replaces Pixar Play Zone at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which closes on March 30, 2019.

Mermaid School

Guests can become part of Ariel’s world at the Mermaid School at select Walt Disney World resort hotels. Guests ages 4 and older can enjoy a hour-long class where they’ll be fitted with a swimmable “tail” and led through activities teaching them how to swim in a pool like a mermaid. Mermaid School will be offered on select dates at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Classes are $50/person (plus tax). Bookings will open mid-March.

Cabanas at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

Reservations are open for rentals of the new poolside cabanas at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, where you can indulge in the lap of luxury. These private hideaways exclusive to Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts provide guests with a bevy of services, including:

• Padded furniture (chairs and couch)
• Dedicated Disney cast member service
• Cocktail service
• Mounted television with cable access
• Complimentary sunscreen and other skincare products
• Mini-refrigerator stocked with complimentary soda and water
• Complimentary fruit tray
• Plush towels
• Lockable cabinet
• Charging outlets for mobile devices

These new cabanas are exclusively for guests staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Reservations for half and full day rentals are now open for dates beginning March 17.

New Art Programs

All-new master classes led by professional artists at select Walt Disney World resort hotels will have you creating your own masterpieces. Classes range from $35 (plus tax) to $50 (plus tax) per person, offered to ages 12 and older for most experiences. 

The artful lineup will include:

• Win, Paint, Show at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
• Wild About Painting, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
• Painting on de’ Bayou (adults), Painting by the Lagoon (kids), Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter Resort. NOTE: children’s painting class is $30 per person (plus tax); designed for ages 6 and older; accompanying parent required.
• Painting in the Vineyard, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
• Canvas and Wine Glass Painting on the Boards, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Fishing Excursions

Whether a seasoned sportsman or amateur angler, guided excursions or dockside fishing in the waterways of Walt Disney World Resort are great fun for Guests of all ages. Aboard a 21-foot SunTracker pontoon (up to five guests) or a tournament-style NITRO bass-fishing boat (for one or two participants), teeming Disney waters are an angler’s dream. Outings (two or four hours) are catch-and-release. The fleet has been joined by a new NITRO ZV21, operating out of the Magic Kingdom®Park marinas.
