Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - Village Name

This past weekend at Star Wars: Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, some exciting news was shared about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Walt Disney Imagineering Story Editor, Margaret Kerrison, shared for the first time that the name of the village is called Black Spire Outpost. She also shared some of the history behind the name and how this village is closely associated with the geological formations that surround it.

The largest settlement on the planet Batuu, Black Spire Outpost is an infamous stop for traders, adventurers, and smugglers traveling around the Outer Rim and Wild Space. Off the beaten path, this outpost has become a haven for the galaxy’s most colorful — and notorious — characters. Widely known for the petrified remains of its once towering ancient trees, the spires now stand guard across the river valleys and plains and have long captured the imagination of travelers to this planet. To the first settlers, these petrified spires became more than just landmarks; they became the heart of the outpost itself.

The fun is heating up with all-new entertainment and more that debuted this past weekend,  kicking off what will be a truly incredible summer at Walt Disney World® Resort. Here’s what’s on tap for each theme park:

Incredible Tomorrowland Expo Begins at Magic Kingdom® Park
Super heroes will take center stage in Tomorrowland with the premiere of the Incredible Tomorrowland Expo. In this celebration, Supers will welcome Edna Mode, the legendary supersuit designer, to the park for the first time. Mr. Incredible, Frozone, Mrs. Incredible and other characters from the Disney·Pixar film “The Incredibles” and the upcoming “Incredibles 2,” will join together for an interactive celebration that features incredible decor and high-energy music.  Families can join in on the fun at the “Super Party Time” dance party, or by watching engaging performances by up-and-coming Supers.

Donald’s Dino-Bash! Debuts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
Donald’s Dino-Bash!, a prehistoric party in which Donald Duck and pals take over DinoLand, U.S.A. To celebrate Donald’s new-found discovery that ducks are actually descendants of dinosaurs, enjoy a flock of new character greetings with feathered friends like Donald, Daisy, Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack, and others during a rip-roaring party. The daily celebration will culminate with a nightly Dino-Riffic dance party with Chip and Dale, along with a DJ spinning wild tunes.

And more summer fun will roll out in June.  Beginning June 9, 2018, The Guardians of the Galaxy will take the stage at Epcot® – Star-Lord and Gamora from “Guardians of the Galaxy” will join an alien band, taking you on a journey through the cosmos. The party will feature hits from Awesome Mixtapes 1 and 2 – fun and favorite tunes from the two movies’ soundtracks – building the anticipation for a new Epcot Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon® Water Park will kick up the summer fun a notch with the debut of Disney H2O Glow Nights. On select summer nights starting June 21, 2018,  special lighting effects will transform the water park like never before as Buzz, Woody and Jessie throw a Beach Party inspired by their friend, “Partysaurus” Rex.  Come join the fun, dance on the beach, play party games, and meet up with Buzz, Woody and Jessie, plus, all attractions are open for Guest enjoyment. Disney H2O Glow Nights will take place only at Typhoon Lagoon on Thursdays and Saturdays from June 21-Aug. 11, 2018 from 8-11 p.m. Disney H2O Glow Nights are a separate ticketed event and the party is not included in daytime admission. Tickets cost $55 for adults and $50 for children ages 3-9 (plus tax). 

And last, but not least, Toy Story Land will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® on June 30, 2018. This new 11-acre land will shrink Guests to the size of a toy and allow them to explore the fun and adventure of Andy’s backyard. There, your can experience two new attractions: the family coaster Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. Toy Story Land also will feature an existing Guest-favorite attraction, Toy Story Mania!, which will expand to add a third track into the rotation. The land’s Woody’s Lunch Box will be a new quick-service restaurant that will offer up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats to Toy Story Land Guests.

Lamplight Lounge at DCA

Lamplight Lounge is the hot new spot coming to Disney California Adventure® Park! Located at the entrance of Pixar Pier, the Lounge will be a stylish, fun place to hang out with the whole family, serving up playfully presented California casual gastro-pub cuisine and unique signature cocktails.

Here is a sneak peek at some of the delicious items that will be available when Pixar Pier opens on June 23, 2018.

Starting with “Shorts” to Share: the Potato Skins will make for the perfect crunchy snack to start off a meal, made with crispy Yukon gold potatoes, these skins come with brown butter-caper yogurt, smoked paprika aïoli, and Manchego cheese.  For sushi lovers, there is the Carne Asada Roll with New York grilled strip steak, roasted Fresno chili salsa, escabeche, and crema.

On the Bigger Bites menu, a vegetarian entrée will take the “lamplight” – the Spinach Salad! This salad consists of curly spinach with warm wild mushrooms, a soft poached egg, charred onion vinaigrette, shiitake “bacon,” and blue cheese toast.  Another featured entrée will be the Chicken Sandwich. This savory, spicy sandwich comes with crispy chicken with spicy chili glaze, vinegar slaw, and pineapple butter and served on an Amish bun alongside malted fries.

On the kids menu, “Budding Artists” will love the PB&J Roll! A fun twist on a traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich, this creamy peanut butter and whole wheat “roll” comes drizzled with strawberry jelly. It’s also served with fresh fruit and a flower pot of hummus and veggies.

Lamplight Lounge and Pixar Pier are set to officially open June 23, 2018 at Disney California Adventure Park. This expansive reimagining will transform the shores of Paradise Bay with favorite Pixar stories. Other exciting food and beverage locations coming to Pixar Pier include Poultry Palace, Señor Buzz Churros, Angry Dogs, and the recently-opened Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats.

Disneyland MaxPass Vacation Package Option!

Last July, Disney MaxPass was introduced at the Disneyland® Resort.  This feature was a huge success and Disney MaxPass has become a “must have” for many of our Guests coming to visit the Disneyland Resort - it is easy to see why as it saves you time and saves your feet as now 16 attractions are offering FASTPASS!

Many Guests have wanted to be able to add this feature to their Disneyland vacation package prior to their arrival, well now you can!  As of May 23, 2018, Guests can include Disney MaxPass on a Walt Disney Travel Company Package! 

Don't know what Disney MaxPass is?  Well, Disney MaxPass helps you maximize your experience at the Disneyland Resort by providing unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads for the day, and by enabling the convenience of mobile FASTPASS booking and redemption times while in the parks through the Disneyland App!

Disney MaxPass is available to add on Package or Room-Only reservations booked through Walt Disney Travel Company, it will continue to be available to Guests for an introductory price of $10 per person, per day! That is such a great bargain!  

Disney MaxPass  is available with 2-to 5-day Disneyland Resort Theme Park Ticket, both Park Hopper or One-Park per Day options.

As with all Walt Disney Travel Company Packages, all Guests in the travel party must purchase the same ticket type. If one Guests chooses to include Disney MaxPass on their ticket options, then everyone in the travel party will have to include Disney MaxPass on their ticket options.

Guests who choose not to purchase Disney MaxPass will continue to have the option of Disney FASTPASS service at no additional cost by obtaining a FASTPASS return time with their park admission ticket at attraction FASTPASS kiosks.

2018 Epcot® International Festival of the Holidays

Recently, dates for this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties at Magic Kingdom Park were announced and here is another holiday update! This year's Epcot® International Festival of the Holidays will return to the park November 18 - December 30, 2018. The Candlelight Processional also returns this year and for the first time, the popular holiday tradition will open for Thanksgiving on November 22 - December 30, 2018.

The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays invites you to discover holiday cheer throughout the park and across all 11 World Showcase pavilions. Special entertainment, storytellers, seasonal favorites at Holiday Kitchens, and eye-catching holiday decor are all part of the fun. Evenings during this time are topped off with a special holiday presentation of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.”

The Candlelight Processional, a holiday must-do for many Epcot Guests, is a retelling of the traditional Christmas story read by a celebrity narrator, accompanied by a massed choir and live orchestra.

Star Wars Galaxy Edge Opening Dates

Disney is still hard at work creating their largest single-themed land expansions ever, late last night there was an exciting announcement that I needed to share with you today!  Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland® Resort and in late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World® Resort!   

This new land, coming to both Disney Parks, is expected to be the most immersive land yet - taking you out of the world of Disney and allowing guests to step straight into the world of Star Wars. There won't be Disney Cast Members working these lands; there will be locals and smugglers that in habit Batuu working the shops and cantinas. And don't forget about the immersive attractions!  One of the land’s two signature attractions will put Guests in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission.

The new mobile ordering service will be available soon to Disneyland® Resort Guests via the Disneyland App.

This convenient, new feature will be available at six Disneyland Park locations – Bengal Barbecue (so good!), Galactic Grill, Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, Hungry Bear Restaurant, Jolly Holiday Bakery Café and Red Rose Taverne – and nine Disney California Adventure® Park locations – Award Wieners, Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, Corn Dog Castle, Flo’s V8 Café (my favorite breakfast spot!), Lucky Fortune Cookery, Pacific Wharf Café, Paradise Garden Grill and Smokejumpers Grill. Order customization will be available directly on the app, including allergy-friendly offerings at select locations.

After Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom

Now you can experience the legendary fireworks over Cinderella Castle from a special viewing area in the Plaza Garden, and afterwards, head on over to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant and indulge in a delicious array of all-you-care-to-enjoy desserts!

On the menu for this sweet experience are treats inspired by each of the lands of Magic Kingdom Park. Among the offerings are the S’mores Action Station (Frontierland), Pineapple Delights (Adventureland), Ooey Gooey Toffee Cakes (Liberty Square), Macarons (Fantasyland), a Cookie Table (Tomorrowland), and Strawberry Tarts (Main Street U.S.A.).

But there’s more than just desserts! Savory snacks include cheese cubes, spinach dip with crackers, and house-made mini eggrolls. Fresh fruit is also available along with refreshing beverages such as sparkling apple juice, coffee, tea, and milk.

Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort

Halloween Time at the Disneyland® Resort is returning for even more days of wicked fun! Beginning September 7 - October 31, 2018, a spell will be cast at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure® Park, transforming the Disneyland Resort into a frenzy of happy haunts.  This limited-time seasonal celebration will include special attraction overlays, themed décor, seasonal treats and merchandise, plus spooky encounters with favorite characters.

Oogie Boogie will once again take over Disney California Adventure Park with stylish Halloween decor along Buena Vista Street and a swarm of bats encircling Carthay Circle Theatre. Cars Land will celebrate Haul-O-Ween as Radiator Springs turns into Radiator Screams! For the occasion, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will transform into Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree while Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters changes into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. In Hollywood Land, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will transform nightly into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark.

At Disneyland Park, the Pumpkin Festival will greet guests as they make their way down Main Street, U.S.A. Fan-favorite attractions will also return, including the eerily delightful Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

Additionally, the highly anticipated Mickey’s Halloween Party will host 15 nights of fun. This separate-ticket, after hours event gives you the chance to make theHalloween Time experience even more fun with some exclusive entertainment, Disney characters in their Halloween attire and trick-or-treating throughout Disneyland Park!
