Introducing New Up Close Encounters at Rainbow Reef at Aulani Resort

Did you know that Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa boasts the only private snorkeling lagoon on O‘ahu? At the serene saltwater lagoon, Rainbow Reef, you can take the plunge and swim up close with Hawaiian reef fish.

Aulani Resort has just introduced two new programs that offer up-close encounters with the dazzling marine life at Rainbow Reef, located in the Waikolohe Valley pool area.

Underwater Explorers is the ideal experience if you want to try scuba diving, but are not scuba-certified. In this two-hour experience, Guests will start with a 25-minute lesson on the basics of scuba equipment, diving and safety procedures. You'll get to practice the dive skills they've learned then enjoy a free swim through the crystal clear waters of Rainbow Reef.

During the dive, you will see colorful marine life, like butterflyfish, angelfish, surgeonfish and tangs. You may even catch a glimpse of one of Aulani’s hidden Menehune (men-neh-HOO-nay). Because Rainbow Reef is a man-made lagoon, it offers a safe, high-visibility environment where you can dive without unpredictable waves or currents.

Underwater Explorers is ideal for scuba beginners, ages 10 and up. Included in the experience are the use of mask, fins and a wetsuit, a complimentary flask and Rainbow Reef fish ID card to take home, and a video of the experience. Cost for the Underwater Explorers program is $189.00 per person, plus tax.

The Rainbow Reef Fish Feeding Experience is a fun way for you to have an up-close interaction and learn about the many tropical fish who call the local waters home. Aulani’s animal programs biologists start with a brief introduction of the fishes in Rainbow Reef. You will see the differences between the many species of fish and learn what the fish eat. For example, some are herbivores, some are carnivores and some are omnivores.

With a better understanding of new fish friends, you will have a chance to feed them while standing on the Rainbow Reef walkway, also a gorgeous photo spot. The fish feeding experience is about 15 minutes and costs $7 per person.

Starting the morning off with the Storybook Breakfast Dining Experience, you will find yourselves dining in the beautiful indoor rooftop restaurant with bird’s eye views and character greetings from some of your favorite Disney friends: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. Breakfast begins with fresh pastries including Danish pastries, croissants, blueberry scones, or Epi bread (a rustic pull-apart baguette shaped like a wheat stalk). For the evening dining experience, guests will enjoy a selection of fresh oak-grilled meats, classically-prepared seafoods, handmade pastas, and decadent desserts infused with French and Italian flavors. Start off a meal with a Burrata con panna with black winter truffle and sea salt or gnocchi with duck confit and aged parmesan. 



Entrées include options such as rigatoni (with braised chicken, charred artichokes, and crème fraiche), bouillabaisse (with seared cod, mussels, turbot, clams, and saffron rouille), king salmon mi-cuit, and beef filet. New at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: Cruella’s Halloween Hide-a-Way!

A Disney Villain you love to hate will be hosting her own festive and fabulous event during this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom® Park!

Starting today, you can book the all-new Cruella’s Halloween Hide-a-Way at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, the perfect place to mix and mingle with Cruella de Vil and be part of her circle of puppies, aka friends! Enjoy a fun, festive atmosphere, with themed background music and décor, and a great view of Town Square. 

Beginning at 9:30 p.m., this new and special experience will allow you to pop in and out at  leisure and indulge in savory hors d’oeuvres with a taste from the Witches Cauldron—a kettle of gooey and creamy spinach dip with ciabatta crostini, assorted Halloween flatbreads and more! In addition, there will be sweet treats such as chocolate-dipped strawberries, cheesecake and mini cannoli, Kanine Krunchy cake and Mini De Vil brownies and a variety of beverages including beer and wine selections and more! 

But the party doesn’t stop there! You will also have access to a special reserved viewing area for the truly enchanting “Mickey’s Boo-To-You” Halloween Parade at 11:15 p.m., featuring some of Cruella’s villainous pals.

Brunch Now Available at Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure Park

On Saturdays and Sundays, Lamplight Lounge at Disney California Adventure is now serving up brunch in the downstairs dining room. Sit back and relax while they taking in the views of Pixar Pier and indulge in a delicious brunch menu featuring a variety of unique dishes and cocktails. 

One of the favorite dishes on the menu is the Indulgent French Toast with cinnamon-brown sugar challah bread, Irish cream whip, maple syrup, and macerated berries garnished with a crunchy piece of house-made almond brittle. For a little protein, take a bite out of the Brunch Burger, which features a grilled custom burger blend served with American cheese, one egg, roasted green chile, lettuce, and paprika aïoli on a toasted Amish bun. If eggs are more your style, then the Crab and Potato Cake Benedict or the Egg White Frittata Bake are for you. The Crab and Potato Cake Benedict comes with sautéed spinach, soft poached eggs, chipotle hollandaise, and fresh fruit. And the Egg White Frittata Bake features hen of the woods mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, roasted peppers and onions, smoked salmon, goat cheese sour cream, avocado, and confit potatoes.

Other entrées include Potato Flautas and Lamplight Chilaquiles. The Potato Flautas are made with plant-based chorizo, vegan piquillo crema, serrano-tomatillo salsa, arugula salad, and escabèche. The Lamplight Chilaquiles feature house-made tortilla chips with cheddar-jack cheese, two eggs, queso fresco, red onions, cilantro-serrano sour cream, and sliced avocado, topped with a 3-chile red sauce and pepitas. 

Also try the New York Avocado Toast with sourdough, avocado mash, New York Steak, one egg, piquillo-butter sauce, arugula salad, pickled red onions, and confit potatoes.

And we can’t forget the kiddos! On the Budding Artists menu, kids can choose from a Brunch Quesadilla or an Omelet (both served with egg whites and cheddar-jack cheese), a smaller portion of the Indulgent French Toast, or a Mini Brunch Burger.

For the adults, hand-crafted specialty beverages include options such as the Beermosa with blood orange IPA and fresh orange juice and a Cinnamon Toast Cocktail with vanilla vodka, hazelnut and cream liqueurs, and cinnamon cereal-infused milk. For a savory beverage, the Morning Glory comes with vodka, spicy Bloody Mary mix, dill pickle brine, and a dash of celery bitters. Of course, what brunch would be complete without MIMOSAS? Try a variety of seasonal flavors with the Mimosa Flight, featuring classic orange juice mimosas as well as versions with mango, watermelon, and more!

Lamplight Lounge Brunch occurs on Saturdays and Sundays only from park open to noon in the downstairs dining room.

Enhancements Coming to the Disney Wonder

The world of “The Princess and the Frog” will come to life in new ways on Disney Cruise Line's the Disney Wonder with the addition of an exciting New Orleans-themed lounge that will transport you deeper into the heart of the city’s iconic French Quarter. A perfect complement to Tiana’s Place Restaurant on the Disney Wonder, the French Quarter Lounge will feature live music and themed activities for everyone in the family. Also debuting on the Disney Wonder this fall will be a sleek new space for teens and a redesigned café just for adults.

Here’s a look at coming enhancements: 

“The Princess and the Frog” Comes to Life in a New Family LoungeThe French Quarter Lounge will be a perfect companion to Tiana’s Place Restaurant on the Disney Wonder, both inspired by the Disney animated feature “The Princess and the Frog.” The jazzy atmosphere of the French Quarter Lounge will evoke an airy outdoor space in New Orleans, surrounded by touches of iconic architecture such as wrought-iron balconies, classic brick walls and shutter-framed windows. Decorative details including a life-size trolley car and nods to the film, with signs and icons on the walls, add to the ambiance of the space. 

Days and nights get a touch of bayou hospitality at the French Quarter Lounge, where you will enjoy live music on the gazebo stage and sip specialty drinks at an updated whimsical bar. The French Quarter Lounge will be a natural precursor to dinner at Tiana’s Place Restaurant or the perfect destination for entertainment and libations. The story will continue in the lounge all day long with New Orleans-themed family activities, trivia and character encounters. There may even be a glimpse of Princess Tiana herself as she stops by to welcome you.

Redesigned Retreats for Teens and AdultsVibe, a club reserved for teens ages 14-17, will transform into a contemporary place to hang out with friends while at sea. The space will be given a timeless feel with an open, bright redesign, a light color palette and industrial metal work. A new coffee bar and updated virtual reality technology add to the list of activities for teens to enjoy in this exclusive club. 

Adults will have an updated space all their own in the Cove Café, after a redesign that will transform the look and feel of the café into a local coffee shop, complete with warm, comfortable and trendy décor. Ample seating and a relaxed atmosphere will invite you to indulge in this peaceful retreat. The newly redesigned Cove Café will be the perfect place to sip specialty coffee or tea throughout the day or partake in wine, cocktails and light bites during the evening.

Adult beverage tastings will be available at select times for an additional fee. Just steps away, Signals Bar is also undergoing a transformation with a similar look.

The new enhancements debut on the Disney Wonder’s four-night sailing from Vancouver to San Diego on Sept. 30, 2019. Dino-riffic Burgers and Sundaes Dinner Coming to Restaurantosaurus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you are looking for a classic burger meal and a yummy sundae to top off the day at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park head to DinoLand, U.S.A., this new dinner experience is definitely for you! At Restaurantosaurus, you can enjoy hand-crafted burgers and a build-your-own sundae bar.

For just one price, you can select an entrée and a side dish and build your own sundae! On the menu are gourmet burgers, a chicken sandwich, a veggie burger, and a salad. For the sides, Guests can choose from fries or onion rings served with a delicious house-made dipping sauce. Plus, dinner also includes a non-alcoholic beverage.

When you order, you’ll receive a token that can be redeemed for a bowl with two scoops of ice cream to the toppings bar to build your own dig site sundae with an abundance of selections to choose from. And in addition to savoring these burgers and treats, you will be able to color with fun dinosaur stencils while Cast Members entertain with games and stories of the paleontology students who created the restaurant.

‘Tale of the Lion King’ Debuts at Disney California Adventure Park

An all-new, original outdoor musical theater production, “Tale of the Lion King,” has debuted at Disney California Adventure® Park at Disneyland Resort. This new stage show celebrates the characters and music of Disney’s “The Lion King” in an imaginative and unique way. The lead narrator, Mwongozo (Swahili for “guide”) leads a troupe of 18 performers called the Storytellers of the Pride Lands in this adaptation. The performance is presented in a contemporary story-theater style that retells the tale through language, song and dance.

“The approach that we’ve taken with ‘Tale of the Lion King’ is that this is a story that was passed on from generation to generation, and now it’s come here to Disney California Adventure Park,” said Susana Tubert, Creative Director, Disney Parks Live Entertainment. “The Storytellers of the Pride Lands have come to share this ancestral story of how a cub became a king.”

Enjoy new musical arrangements of favorite songs, including “Circle of Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and “Hakuna Matata,” among others. The live drumming and singing, along with the set and costumes all celebrate the cultural roots of this beloved Disney story. Check out our first peek below!

The Animation Experience at Conservation Station begins July 11

At Rafiki's Planet Watch at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, a brand-new additional experience is coming, drawing on Disney's rich heritage of wildlife animation, inspired by Walt Disney’s own passion for ensuring his animators could develop realistic characters and settings by spending time with animals. 

In celebration of Disney’s “The Lion King,” Disney will be launching The Animation Experience at Conservation Station, offers you the opportunity to learn how live animals have inspired some of the most iconic characters from this beloved “tail.” Learn more about some of the animals who call Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park home and then have the chance to create a personalized piece of Disney art through an instructor-led animation class. Some of your favorite characters from “The Lion King” will be the stars of The Animation Experience, which will start when Rafiki’s Planet Watch reopens on July 11. You can learn how to draw Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon and more. Each session will be different so you should visit often to complete the collection. Disney FastPass+ Service will be offered for the experience, and you can now make this selection!  

For more than 60 years, animals have been a part of Disney storytelling, and these stories continue today alongside efforts to protect wildlife and habitats around the world, as well as provide immersive experiences that connect kids and families with the magic of nature.
