Since its introduction more than two years ago, “Rivers of Light” has enchanted Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park Guests with a nighttime pageant of beautifully illuminated lantern floats, grand theatrical imagery, a soaring musical score and innovative special effects. This summer, the next chapter of this spectacle will unfold with the debut of “Rivers of Light: We Are One.”

“Rivers of Light: We Are One” introduces additional, stunning imagery and familiar animal characters from Disneynature films, along with a colorful tapestry of classic moments from Disney animation, to express our connection with animals and the emotions and milestones we all share in our journey through the great circle of life.

The music of “Rivers of Light: We Are One” weaves together the original musical score and familiar Disney themes to create a powerful arrangement that inspires and carries us through moments of discovery, fun, friendship, fear, love and family.

“Rivers of Light: We Are One” comes to the Discovery River Amphitheater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, beginning Memorial Day Weekend 2019.

Rivers of Light Dessert Party!

Walt Disney World Resort loves a good Dessert Party. Dessert Parties are an exclusive event held before or after a nighttime shows at (previously) Magic Kingdom, Epcot or Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Guests pay for exclusive access to a buffet of sweet treats, snacks, drinks and premium seating to the park's nighttime show. Before today, dessert parties were only held for Happily Every After Fireworks; IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth; Fantasmic!; and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. Disney's Animal Kingdom was left out on the dessert party fun until today!

The Rivers of Light dessert party will be held prior to the show. Guests start by checking in 60 minutes prior to the main show (8:15 p.m. for a 9:15 p.m. show) at the Rivers of Light Asia Viewing Area Terrace located across from Expedition Everest.  At this location, party-goers will enjoy house-made desserts, snacks, specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, iced tea, lemonade, and water. When the show is about to start, they'll head down to the VIP Seating Area, where they'll enjoy exceptional views of Rivers of Light.  With captivating special effects, music, and animal folklore, this incredible show celebrates the beauty of all living things. And now, you can celebrate the beauty of sweet desserts with the new Rivers of Light Dessert Party!

Parties are currently being held on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Guests must be at least 21 years of age or older and able to present a valid form of ID to consume alcoholic beverages. Admission is $79 per adult and $47 per child (ages 3 to 9) including tax; gratuity not included or required. Reservations are now open!

Recently, the Disney Parks Blog captured the "Rivers of Light" show at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park via live stream. In case you haven’t seen this amazing nighttime show, “Rivers of Light” celebrates animals and nature by combining floating set pieces, lanterns, a soaring musical score, fountains and more. The show’s storytellers “narrate” this emotionally moving show through a combination of dance, music, song and shadow puppetry.

Rivers of Light Dining Package at Tiffins

When it comes to nighttime entertainment, there’s nothing quite like the spectacular Rivers of Light nighttime show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, with talented live performers, mesmerizing music and stunning water effects. And, the best way to make sure you have a reserved seat for the show is with a Rivers of Light Dining Package at Tiffins.

Located on Discovery Island, Tiffins boasts a menu that will take you on a culinary expedition of international cuisine. Plus, Tiffins is just steps from the entrance to Pandora – The World of Avatar opening May 27, 2017.

With the Rivers of Light Dining Package, you can enjoy a fabulous three-course meal including a choice of appetizer, entrée, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. Cost for the dining package is $67 for adults, and $26 for ages 3 to 9, or two table-service meal entitlements on the Disney Dining Plan.

"Rivers of Light" Dining Packages

“Rivers of Light,” the new nighttime show will debut February 17, 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. This new show will wow you with live performers, a soaring musical score, grand theatrical imagery and innovative water special effects that celebrate the relationship between animals and nature. "Rivers of Light" comes to life on select nights after dark on the Discovery River between Discovery Island and Expedition Everest.

The park’s culinary team is working on special dining packages at both Tiffins and Tusker House Restaurant to add to the special evening.

Similar to the popular “Fantasmic!” Dining Packages at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, the “Rivers of Light” Dining Package includes reserved seating at the new show. At all-you-care-to-eat Tusker House, you can choose the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet on the day of the show (but you will have to dine at least 2 ½ hours before the show). Breakfast is $37, $23 ages 3 to 9, plus tax and gratuity; lunch and dinner, $49, $30 ages 3 to 9, plus tax and gratuity. Tusker House Restaurant is on the Disney Dining Plan and counts as one table-service meal.

At Tiffins, “Rivers of Light” Dining Packages are available at both lunch and dinner. You can choose your favorite appetizer, entrée, dessert plus a non-alcoholic beverage. Dining must take place at least two and a half hours prior to showtime. Cost is $67, $32 ages 3 to 9 plus tax and gratuity. Tiffins accepts the Disney Dining Plan, and counts as two table-service meal entitlements.

Rivers of Light - Coming February 17!

For more than a year, Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort has evolved to a day-to-night park by introducing a rich variety of new nighttime experiences – from Kilimanjaro Safaris after sunset and fine dining at Tiffins, to the vibrant entertainment at the Harambe Wildlife Parti and Discovery Island Carnivale. And when the Tree of Life awakens after dark, it is truly a sight to behold!

The park’s newest nighttime experiences, “Rivers of Light,” will make its official debut on Feb 17, 2017.

“Rivers of Light” combines live performance, floating set pieces, a soaring musical score, fountains and more in a celebration of animals and nature. The story magically unfolds on the broad natural stage of the Discovery River, conveying the uplifting spirit of an ancient and timeless lantern ceremony and filled with symbolism, storytelling and plenty of heart.

Dining and FastPass+ reservations for this new show are now available.  

And don’t forget that the next step in the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom – the grand debut of Pandora – The World of Avatar – will take place on May 27, 2017.

“The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” Details!

The all-new, limited engagement show, “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” will debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park on May 28, 2016. Today, I'm excited to share a few more details about this exciting new entertainment experience at Walt Disney World® Resort.

The excitement and fun of Disney’s hit live-action adventure “The Jungle Book” roars to life in this new show with live music and performances, dazzling special effects and production numbers inspired by Indian cultural traditions. As Guests gather on the shores of Discovery River for this vibrant Indian celebration, dozens of colorful performers take to the water and surround the audience in song and visual artistry.

Massive curtains of water glow to life above the river’s surface, illuminated with imagery from the new blockbuster film as Bagheera and other favorite characters “The Jungle Book” take Guests on a journey through the jungle, following Mowgli’s encounters.

Plus, “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” features rousing, Indian-inspired arrangements of the movie’s popular songs “Trust in Me,” “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wan’na Be Like You,” all building to an uplifting, boisterous finale.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Awakens at Night With New ‘Jungle Book’ Show, Parties & Attractions Starting Memorial Day Weekend

Starting this Memorial Day Weekend, you will be able to enjoy Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Park in a whole new way – after the sun goes down! Whether it’s riding Kilimanjaro Safaris at sunset, venturing down Kali River Rapids at twilight, dancing alongside African performers in Harambe, or reveling in a live musical celebration of Disney’s hit film “The Jungle Book,” Guests have a lot to look forward to.



Here’s a taste of what to expect:

• “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” Show – For the summer, Discovery River will become the stage for a limited-engagement show inspired by Disney’s hit live-action film “The Jungle Book.” “The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic” is filled with music and special effects that celebrates the new film and the classic songs, now infused with an Indian influence.

• The Tree of Life Awakens – The park’s iconic Tree of Life undergoes an extraordinary “awakening.” You can expect to see animal spirits come to life throughout the evening by magical fireflies. Each scene appears to emanate from within the tree itself and reveals stories of wonder.

• Kilimanjaro Safaris After Dark – Your Clients can enjoy Kilimanjaro Safaris in the evening hours, thanks to special lighting that will allow them to explore the savanna – and its inhabitants – well into the night.

• Harambe Wildlife Parti – Guests can turn into “party animals” at the Harambe Wildlife Parti and enjoy lively African music, exotic foods and drinks, and explore the local marketplace.

• Discovery Island Carnivale – On Discovery Island, you can join the local community in their celebration of their love for nature in this party that features music, dancers, stilt walkers, food and more.

• Tiffins – Guests can enjoy the park’s newest eatery, Tiffins, for both lunch and dinner. Check out this previous post for a peek at what to expect from the menu.

• Nighttime Attractions – The park’s attractions, which will be operating in the nighttime hours, will take on a whole new life. For the first time, guests will be able to experience the thrill of attractions like Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids – surrounded by darkness. They’ll also be able to enjoy colorful midway games and attractions in DinoLand, U.S.A.
