The Polite Pig Opening at Disney Springs!

On April 10, 2017, The Polite Pig in Town Center at Disney Springs™ at Walt Disney World® Resort will open, the newest restaurant for award-winning Orlando Chefs James and Julie Petrakis. The husband-wife team, also owners of The Ravenous Pig and Swine & Sons in Winter Park and Cask & Larder at Orlando International Airport, are opening this newest concept with James Petrakis’ brother Brian.

The Polite Pig will feature “modern barbecue” in an open kitchen, with Southern sides like a tomato and watermelon salad, mac and cheese and smoked corn with lime butter – including a sauce bar with seven different ways to top barbeque dishes, from Layla’s Sweet to Fresno Hot Sauce. The Polite Pig will also serve a solid selection of craft beers and cocktails and features a bourbon bar with more than 50 selections, from small batch bourbons to a Pappy Van Winkle 23-Year Family Reserve.

The restaurant has 190 seats, and the décor pays homage to the beloved swine of The Polite Pig, as well as antiquity. Whimsical pigs on various adventures can be seen throughout the space, and rustic touches are used for custom featured art pieces. Large faded graphics also adorn the main wall of the space adding to the feel of the long-time family run business.

Stargazer Lounge at Planet Hollywood in Disney Springs

The theme of the re-imagined Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World® Resort will still feature stars from the big screen but much of the new focus will be on stars in the sky, as the restaurant completes its transformation into a turn-of-the-20th-century observatory.

Food and drink menus are soon to be revealed, but Guests can expect more famous movie memorabilia, video screens, cutting edge music and a store featuring themed merchandise.

Opening later this year in Town Center at Disney Springs, the restaurant will feature Stargazer Lounge where you will find signature craft cocktails with names that reflect the planets and space travel - including The Observatory and the Sparkling Sputnik.

Town Center is Now Open at Disney Springs

Town Center, the newest neighborhood at Disney Springs, is officially open at Walt Disney World® Resort!  Featuring Spanish revival architecture, gorgeous landscaping and several new fountains and water features, this new addition is home to exceptional shopping and dining experiences. A total of 23 exciting new retail tenants are now open, including ALEX AND ANI, kate spade new york, Lucky Brand, Sephora, Vera Bradley, Pandora, Tommy Bahama, Under Armour Brand House and much more!

With recent roadway improvements on Buena Vista Drive nearly complete, getting to Disney Springs is easier than ever. Additional car lanes and dedicated bus lanes are now operational. And, the the newly-opened Lime Garage offers Guests convenient parking to Disney Springs Town Center and the Marketplace. This new garage, similar to the Orange Garage on the West Side, uses smart technology to identify open parking spaces. 

More shops and restaurants are coming soon to Disney Springs.

Exploring Disney Springs

Today, let’s take a closer look at Disney Springs! Formerly referred to as Downtown Disney, this newly renamed Walt Disney World location is an all-in-one shopping, dining and entertainment district.

Drawing inspiration from Florida’s waterfront towns and natural beauty, Disney Springs treats you to a one-of-a-kind Disney experience amid beautiful open-air promenades and waterfront charm.  When complete, DisneySprings will include four interconnected neighborhoods – The Landing, Marketplace, West Side and Town Center.

New to Disney Springs, The Landing is home to unique shopping locations and memorable dining experiences, including the recently opened Morimoto Asia and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar.  And, coming soon, Town Center will include a diverse mix of retailers and unique restaurants. During the holiday season, DisneySprings glistens with new offerings to make the season merry and bright.  Around every corner, you will find new decorations, including unique holiday trees and pop-up greeting cards.
