Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa - Renovation Update

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa at the Disneyland® Resort is currently undergoing an exciting hotel-wide renovation—the most extensive refurbishment since the hotel’s 2001 opening. Guests have already been enjoying some of the updates—with many new Guest rooms already available and the redesigned pool area now open for summer fun! Here's a look at some of the details found at our refreshed pool deck.
Each pool area was designed with a variety of natural stones and brick to not only create a warm and welcoming environment, but also define three distinct pool settings. In keeping with the Arts and Crafts style of the hotel, the stone work was hand-laid by master stone mason
The Redwood Pool, with its irregular shape, features earthy, organic-feeling materials, including rustic brown flagstone and multicolored brick bands and slide accents. Situated just behind the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure park, the 90-foot-long waterslide curves around a giant Redwood tree stump!
Golden flagstone is used throughout the Fountain Pool. The new urn-shaped fountain serves as the pool area’s centerpiece. Our original turtle fountain can now been seen nestled in the garden as a fun addition to the Craftsman-inspired landscape.
The quiet Mariposa Pool features serene bluestone laid in an ashlar (or rectangular) pattern creating a sleek look. For Guests who wish to stretch out and relax, private cabanas line the edge and are available for half-day or full-day rentals.

By doing this, 500 more Guest rooms will be created, along with new features for Guests to enjoy.
Please note construction fencing will be seen at the resort, with work happening behind the fencing. Additionally, noise will be heard while the Resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from inside Guest rooms prior to 9 a.m. daily.

Grand Californian Hotel Refurbishments

A renovation is currently underway at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland® Resort! The most extensive refurbishment since its opening, Walt Disney Imagineering plans to elevate the premium hotel experience and bring a modern approach to the Arts & Crafts design style. The hotel-wide refresh will include reimagining all guest rooms, pool areas and the concierge-level Craftsman Club as well as new furniture for the lobby.
The Grand Californian Hotel was recently named a AAA Four Diamond hotel by the Automobile Club of Southern California for the sixteenth year in a row, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa opened in 2001 as a deluxe retreat capturing the romantic spirit of California’s Arts & Crafts movement in the early 20th century.

The guest rooms will be completely redesigned to create a fresh sense of luxury. Every single element will be new—from the floors and walls to the furnishings, beddings and linens as well as upgraded bathrooms. Upon entry, you will notice hardwood flooring transition into soft, bright-toned carpeting. The room decor is a contemporary take on the Arts & Crafts style featuring all-new furniture made of natural oak, specially designed for each room, as well as California-inspired artwork created by artists and Imagineers, including beautiful headboard walls with wood inlay designs featuring orange trees and Chip ‘n Dale! Guests with a sharp eye will catch other uniquely Disney details throughout these newly refreshed rooms.
This refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Big changes are coming to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort over the next two years.
There will be an expansion at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to include a new 15-story tower that will add 500 rooms, featuring suites and concierge level services. The resort will also refurbish its current resort rooms and transform its landscape with floating gardens and an island oasis that connects the resort through a series of bridges.
The new tower overlooking Lago Dorado, the resort’s centerpiece lake, will allow you to experience something truly unique, rooftop dining with panoramic views of popular nighttime fireworks from nearby Disney theme parks.
Also during this exciting time, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be reimagined with new additions to the resort’s current marketplace, Centertown, including new waterfront dining and retail shopping areas.
