Tortuga Tavern - New Menu!

Announcing more changes at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort!  Yesterday, October 14, was the first day of the new menu at Tortuga Tavern.  Tortuaga Tavern is a quick-service restaurant located in Adventureland, across the way from the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop exit.

Here is what the Disney Parks Blog had to say along with some of their pictures:

New menu items include barbecue sandwiches with either pulled pork, sliced beef brisket or grilled chicken breast, all served on Texas toast with beans and cole slaw. Vegetarians, or anyone looking for a lighter meal will enjoy the roasted corn and vegetable salad, served with vinaigrette dressing. Barbecue beef brisket or chicken can also be added to the salad.

Tortuga Tavern is a "seasonal" quick service location that tends to open when park crowds are high.  Even with this new menu debut, this quick-service location, it is still being billed as a "seasonal" locations so best of luck trying to get your BBQ fix while in the Magic Kingdom!

Flying Fish - Closing!

According to the Disney blog, my beloved Flying Fish Cafe at the BoardWalk will be closing for months (notice that "s" on the end of months… tear) on January 31.

This is what the Disney blog has said about the closure:

January 31 is the last day to dine at Flying Fish Café on Disney’s BoardWalk, as the signature restaurant will close for several months as both Walt Disney Imagineering and the culinary team reimagine one of the most popular places for dinner at Walt Disney World Resort.  You can expect a whole new look, and the team will be working on a new menu (but no worries, the potato-wrapped snapper remains and seasonal approach stay the same).

The reimagined dining room will still have an onstage kitchen and an airier design, with more room for the popular Chef’s Counter and wine dinners.

While I am very happy to hear that the potato-wrapped snapper will be returning to the Flying Fish Cafe - it is one of my very favorite Walt Disney World dishes - I am sad that the rest of the restaurant will be re-imagined.  I'm really sad that the tent room may be going away.  Last fall we got to sit in the "tent" area of the restaurant and it was such a neat experience!  If you ignore the bit of my mother trying to give Chris some bunny-ears, you'll notice the background.  It looks like tented fabric, right? Wrong! That is painted walls my friends! Painted to look like you're in the middle of a tent! So go here while you can, ask if you can sit in the tent and order the potato-wrapped snapper and you'll have a great dinner!

Spider Man at Super Hero HQ

Spider-Man will be making his Disneyland Resort debut in a heroic new character greeting location Super Hero HQ!  Super Hero HQ will open this fall at Disneyland® Park and everyone’s favorite web slinger is swinging in for the occasion!  You can snap a photo, grab an autograph or just thank him for keeping everyone safe from the likes of Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin!

Spider-Man is coming to Super Hero HQ!

Super Hero HQ is the West Coast home base of some of the greatest heroes in the universe. It’s the place to go, not only to meet some of those heroes, but to discover the super hero within.  You can tour Treasures of Asgard and cross the Bifrost to come face-to-face with the mighty Avenger, Thor.  You can also virtually suit up as Iron Man and check out the Hall of Armor at Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries, play some of the latest games in the Game Center and pick up some Super Hero gear to take with them on their journey home.

Super Hero HQ opens November 16, 2015 in the Tomorrowland Expo Center at Disneyland Park.
