‘Whole New World’ of Entertainment Coming to the Disney Fantasy

When you sail on Disney Cruise Line's the Disney Fantasy, you'll be treated to a ‘whole new world’ of dazzling entertainment offerings in 2019! “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is premiering a reimagined look, a pair of royal sisters brings some “Frozen” fun to the lineup of the Walt Disney Theatre this fall and a new deck party will give families a once-in-a-lifetime chance to celebrate Mickey’s 90th this summer!  

The reimagined version of “Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” has debuted on the Disney Fantasy thanks to the creative minds of Disney and a team of Broadway’s top artists. Along with an updated script and enriched storylines, the show has brand-new choreography, score additions, puppetry, reimagined costumes, lighting, video/projection design and exciting pyrotechnics. Just in time for the live action movie’s release, this production is sure to delight theatergoers of all ages and will help inspire the next generation of “Aladdin” fans.

Also making its debut in the Walt Disney Theatre this fall is “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular.” This heartwarming tale of two sisters based on the hit film showcases the adventures of Anna and Elsa as they discover the meaning of sisterhood, inner strength and true love. This Broadway-style spectacular, which premiered on the Disney Wonder in 2016, will delight even more Guests across the Disney Cruise Line fleet when it joins “Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney’s Believe” aboard the Disney Fantasy on Oct. 26, 2019.

Disney Cruise Line and Captain Minnie Mouse Inspire Next Generation of Female Ship Captains

With a collection of new initiatives, Disney Cruise Line is making a splash to inspire the next generation of female leaders in the maritime industry. The debut of Captain Minnie Mouse, new nautical youth programs and new scholarships are designed to empower girls and young women to pursue careers in the cruise industry and chart a course for success.

Introducing Captain Minnie Mouse

We know how Disney characters have a unique ability to inspire and connect with children. Now at Disney Cruise Line, Captain Minnie Mouse will encourage young girls around the world to consider a career in the maritime industry. She will spread the message of exploring new horizons, both by land and by sea.

Captain Minnie Mouse, in her crisp new uniform with smart white trousers or skirt and a bold red jacket emblazoned with captain’s insignia, will make the rounds on all Disney ships starting in April.

Empowering Women through Maritime Scholarships

This year, Disney Cruise Line will sponsor four scholarships at the LJM Maritime Academy in The Bahamas for female cadets who aspire to be ship captains and shipboard leaders. The scholarships, one for each of the ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, include two years of study at the academy and one year of service aboard a Disney ship.

Nautical Fun for Children at Sea

Onboard Disney Cruise Line ships later this year, Captain Minnie Mouse will appear in an all-new youth activity where young captain hopefuls practice STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills in a fun maritime-themed activity. Children will hone their STEM and problem-solving abilities – skills that play an important role in the maritime industry – in a series of engaging, hands-on activities.

The interactive experience will be a journey of discovery, exploration and imagination that will be offered in Disney’s Oceaneer Lab aboard all Disney ships.

 

Why Knot – Taking Nautical Fun Ashore

As part of a commitment to encourage future generations to pursue careers in the maritime industry, Captain Minnie Mouse will visit children in some of Disney Cruise Line’s homeports and ports of call. Children will have an opportunity to meet Captain Minnie Mouse and be inspired by her “can do” qualities and ability to tackle any goal she sets her mind to.

As part of these local community visits, Captain Minnie Mouse will be accompanied by a female Disney Cruise Line officer or crew member to showcase their roles in the maritime industry and raise awareness about career choices for women aboard a cruise ship.

Captain Minnie Mouse also takes the spotlight on a new PANDORA Jewelry charm, available for purchase exclusively onboard.

In the future, girls will get to dress the part with a Captain Minnie Mouse makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, available exclusively on Disney ships. At this special salon, children can transform into seafaring captains, inspired by their favorite mouse.

Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration at Magic Kingdom Park

Now, more than ever, it’s a great time to be at Walt Disney World® Resort, with fabulous new entertainment experiences in all four parks. And right now at Magic Kingdom Park, you can enjoy Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration!

Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration honors those true originals, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, with new entertainment, merchandise, and specialty food and beverages. The party starts at Celebration Central, located inside Town Square Theater on Main Street, U.S.A., where you can sign the Celebration Guest Book and pick up a fun checklist of ten ways to celebrate Mickey and Minnie during your day in the park.

Also at Town Square Theater, the world’s most famous mice are in a rehearsal room, preparing for a big show, and Guests are invited to head backstage for a visit. Mickey and Minnie have asked their closest pals and co-stars to come together for “The Celebration Revue,” but they’ll gladly take time out of their busy schedule to meet with friends while wearing their snazzy new party outfits.

The celebration really kicks into high gear several times daily when the “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It!” Street Party rolls into the Central Plaza in front of Cinderella Castle. The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team has pulled out all the stops to make this the most spirited, high-energy party you’ve ever seen! A pair of energetic, singing party hosts keeps things hopping with the new celebration song “It’s a Good Time,” along with contemporary arrangements of classic melodies.

Guests can also spot favorite Disney pals like Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Max, Pluto, Chip ‘n Dale, Clarice, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, José Carioca and Panchito – and of course, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse! And this is a MousekeDance party after all, so you can get ready to do the twist, the swim, the pony, the shimmy, the cool jerk, and the bird. 

Of course, this is a Surprise Celebration, so anything can happen! All along Main Street, U.S.A., the Dapper Dans, the Casey’s Corner piano player, the Main Street Philharmonic and the Citizens of Main Street get into the fun with special, musical surprise moments. Special guests are stopping by each day, too. In the past week, we’ve spotted Phineas and Ferb, Robin Hood and Little John, Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” and more.

Night of Joy at Walt Disney World 2016

The next generation of Night of Joy at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is just about a month away.  This year Night of Joy at Walt Disney World Resort is enhancing its offerings, with an amazing lineup featuring eighteen great artists in Contemporary Christian Music.

And since Night of Joy is taking place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Walt Disney World is adding more spirit with our “Fields of Joy.” Guests can come on down to our premier sports fields and play a fast-paced game of 4v4 soccer, kick a field goal, clock their pitching arm, showcase their free throw skills and more. Plus, they can tempt their taste buds with a variety of food trucks to satisfy any big league appetite.

In addition to more music and more spirit, Christian Comedians have been added to the line-up on both nights. New this year is FanFest at Jostens Center, a fun, interactive area including video games, 60 second challenges, Imagination Playground and oversized versions of popular games such as foosball, Connect Four and chess.

Plus, for the first time at Night of Joy, exclusive merchandise from many of the artists appearing each night will be available in the Jostens Center. To top it all off, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, along with some other Disney friends, will be on hand to meet Guests from 5-11 p.m. each night. On Saturday night, Guests can enjoy a special opportunity to participate in multiple question and answers sessions with some of the top artists appearing at the event.

The following ticket options are available:

• A single-night, concert only ticket for Friday, September 9 – $39 plus tax (in advance); $45 the day of the show (if available).
• A single-night concert and one-day Disney theme park ticket (valid for one of the four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks) for Saturday, September 10 – $99 plus tax (in advance); $114 plus tax the day of the show (if available).*
• A two-night concert ticket (which includes both nights’ concerts and one-day Disney theme park ticket (valid for one of the four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks) – $119 plus tax (in advance).*

Please note the one-day Disney theme park ticket is only valid for Saturday, Sept 10, 2016.

‘Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire’ Begins June 17 at Magic Kingdom Park

Recently, I shared some details about “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire,” coming to the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage at Magic Kingdom® Park at Walt Disney World® Resort, and today I'm pleased to tell you this fantastically fun new show will make its debut on June 17, 2016!

“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” brings to life beloved Disney stories both classic and contemporary in a spectacular performance featuring an original song, memorable music, lively dancing, delightful costumes and special effects magic.  Mickey and his troupe of Merry Makers have invited friends from other lands to join them in a grand celebration.  So in addition to favorites like Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Goofy, the show also brings together a wonderful cast of characters from some of Disney’s newest classics: “Frozen,” “Tangled” and “The Princess and the Frog.”

“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” celebrates the unique stories of the citizens who make up this magical kingdom and the wonderful things that can happen when we try new things, go to new places and get to know new friends.

New Character Greeting Experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Beginning this week, you can join some of your favorite Disney characters as they live out their Hollywood dreams in two new character greeting experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World® Resort.

In Celebrity Spotlight, located in the park’s Echo Lake district, Guests are invited to meet that lovable snowman Olaf, from Disney’s blockbuster film “Frozen.”  Olaf is living his dream “In Summer,” chilling on the beach and ready to give warm hugs to all his new friends.

Just around the bend on Commissary Lane, Guests can find “Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams.” Here, you will discover Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, living the dream as A-list Hollywood stars.  You can walk the red carpet and step right into a scene with Minnie, where she appears as a Tinsel Town starlet in a ritzy setting straight out of a lush and colorful musical extravaganza. Next, you can join Mickey in a scene from “Fantasia,” where he’s portraying his iconic role of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Olaf is in the Celebrity Spotlight now, while “Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams” makes its debut on Sunday, May 8, 2016.

“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” Comes to Magic Kingdom June 2016

Beginning this summer at Walt Disney World® Resort, Mickey Mouse and his friends will welcome favorite characters from some of Disney’s newest classics in “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.”  This all-new live stage show makes its debut in June on the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage at Magic Kingdom® Park, with special appearances by Tiana and Naveen from “The Princess and the Frog,” Rapunzel and Flynn from “Tangled” and Anna and Elsa from “Frozen.”

“Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” brings to the stage fantastic costumes, lively dancing, special effects magic and memorable musical moments, including the original song “On This Day” by songwriters Brendan Milburn and Valerie Vigoda (“Toy Story: The Musical,” “Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings”).

In the show, Mickey and his troupe of Merry Makers have been preparing to host a joyous festival and have ventured far and wide to invite friends from other lands to join their celebration.  From the Land of the Bewitching Bayous, Goofy has invited Tiana, Naveen and Louis to add a little spice of New Orleans jazz to the party. From the Land of the Enchanted Woods, Donald Duck brings some new friends he met at the Snuggly Duckling, and Daisy introduces us to her special guests, Rapunzel and Flynn. Finally, Mickey shares a surprise with Minnie, as he has traveled to the Land of the Mystic Mountains to invite Olaf, Anna and Elsa, who contributes a blast of her icy magic.  It all culminates in a grand dance, as the Merry Makers invite all their new friends to join in the fun on this special day in Magic Kingdom Park.
