Pixar Pier Coming Summer 2018 to DCA

Summer 2018 will bring a transformed land at Disney California Adventure® Park when Pixar Pier opens along the southern shore of Paradise Bay, with newly themed attractions, entertainment, foods and merchandise throughout. This new, permanent land in the area that is now Paradise Pier will introduce four new neighborhoods representing beloved Disney·Pixar stories.

The first of the four themed neighborhoods is inspired by “The Incredibles.” Here, the new Incredicoaster, permanently transformed from the attraction that is now California Screamin’, will open with Pixar Pier in summer 2018. This new experience will feature a mid-century-modern-style loading area, new character moments and a new look for the ride vehicles. To prepare for this transformation, California Screamin’ will close January 8, 2018.

The popular Toy Story Mania! will anchor the “Toy Story”-inspired neighborhood. A neighborhood inspired by “Inside Out” will be found on the western side of the boardwalk and will welcome a new family-friendly attraction, scheduled to open at a later date.

The fourth neighborhood will be a celebration of many favorite Pixar stories. In this neighborhood, Mickey’s Fun Wheel will have a new look, with each of the 24 gondolas featuring different Pixar characters and the iconic face of Mickey Mouse remaining on the Paradise Bay side of the wheel. At the Games of the Boardwalk, which already includes the Bullseye Stallion Stampede game, all of the midway games will be inspired by Pixar characters. Mickey’s Fun Wheel, Games of the Boardwalk and Sideshow Shirts will close January 8, 2018 to begin this transformation.

Ariel’s Grotto restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a new lounge and grill offering sparkling views of Paradise Bay and the new Pixar Pier. Both locations will close January 8, 2018, with Cove Bar reopening briefly in April before closing again for its permanent transformation. Guests wishing to reserve “World of Color” dining packages after January 7, 2018, may consider Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria.

The remaining areas of the land that is now Paradise Pier, including Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, will become a new land called Paradise Park.

Pixar Pier will open during the limited-time Pixar Fest celebration, which begins April 13, 2018. The celebration will include the new “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks spectacular as well as the return of Pixar Play Parade and “Paint the Night” parade, and much more throughout the entire Disneyland® Resort.

Summer 2017 Experiences at Disney's Hollywood Studios

• “The Music of Pixar LIVE!” – Set to debut May 26, 2017, this brand-new, limited-time concert event will showcase memorable music from Pixar Animation Studios films, complete with a live orchestra and appearances by beloved Disney•Pixar characters. The show will be presented three times nightly at Theater of the Stars. And, you can even reserve seats with the Dining Package!
• Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Fireworks – This state-of-the-art show celebrates the Star Wars saga with fireworks, projection effects, dynamic lighting, lasers and pyrotechnics that light up the night with an unforgettable finale.
• For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along –  One of my personal favorites and must does at Hollywood Studios! This show celebrates the heart of the original “Frozen” film with this lively retelling – packed with a flurry of stories, songs and sing-alongs.

Disneyland FASTPASS Evolving

Disney FASTPASS is one of the best ways for you to make the most of your time at the Disney Parks. This landmark innovation was first introduced at Disneyland and Walt Disney World® Resort in 1999 to provide Guests with faster access to the fun.  Over the years, Disney FASTPASS has evolved and expanded.

At Disneyland Resort, Disney FASTPASS coming to two popular attractions — Toy Story Mania in Disney California Adventure® Park and Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland Park! When Disney FASTPASS first launched at Disneyland Resort it was available at only four locations, and over the years the number has expanded to a total of 16 attractions with these two new additions. 

Later this year, Disney MaxPass will launch. MaxPass will allow Guests to maximize their experience by providing unlimited downloads of their high-resolution PhotoPass images and by enabling the convenience of mobile booking and redemption of Disney FASTPASS return times – all by using the Disneyland App.  Disney MaxPass will be available for an introductory price of $10 per person per day. Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders also will have the opportunity to purchase Disney MaxPass on a daily or yearly basis.

Disneyland guests will continue to have the option of Disney FASTPASS service at no cost by obtaining FASTPASSES at attraction FASTPASS kiosks. 

The addition of these two new Disney FASTPASS locations and the introduction of Disney MaxPass is part of Disneyland's ongoing commitment to providing Guests with opportunities to customize their experiences and make it even easier than ever to create unforgettable memories.
