Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration Coming Soon to Disneyland

Disneyland® Resort is introducing an all-new, must-see pop-up experience at the Downtown Disney® District. Coming this spring, Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration will transport you through a visually and whimsically immersive experience celebrating 90 years of the one and only Mickey Mouse, and his darling, Minnie Mouse.

This limited-time exhibition will feature several different imaginatively themed rooms with vivid displays inspired by all things Mickey Mouse. Every room will feature selfie-worthy surprises and provide plenty of fun and fabulous photo ops.

One such surprise will be a super-sized and super sweet bow sofa. In this area, Guests can pop into the portrait and take a seat on Minnie’s plush sofa or pose under Minnie’s giant bows and hearts.  

This separately ticketed exhibit will be located near the Downtown Disney District Monorail station in the former space of ESPN Zone. Tickets will go on sale soon. Stay tuned for more details!

Pop-Up Disney! A Mickey Celebration is another fantastic example of the excitement and evolution of entertainment, dining and shopping in the Downtown Disney District. Most recently, we welcomed Ballast Point Brewing Company, Salt & Straw scoop shop, the re-designed Wetzel’s Pretzels, Naples Ristorante e Bar, Napolini Pizzeria and the re-imagined World of Disney!

World of Disney Reimagined at both Disney Parks

Shopping at Disney Parks is an adventure with hundreds of shops and boutiques to explore. The largest of these shops, World of Disney, has served as the “must see” destination for finding many beloved souvenirs from stylish apparel to home décor.  Now, as part of continued enhancements to Guests’ shopping experiences at Disney Parks, the World of Disney store locations in Disney Springs® at Walt Disney World® Resort and in Downtown Disney® District at Disneyland® Resort will be reimagined beginning in mid-February 2018.

When the interior redesign work is completed, you will discover the products they love from Disney Parks in a dynamic and distinctly Disney retail environment. 

Work will be completed in phases throughout 2018, so you can continue shopping in the World of Disney stores during construction.

Shops in Town Center at Disney Springs, such as Ever After Jewelry Co. or The Disney Corner (opening in mid-February), will carry select merchandise while World of Disney undergoes renovations.

At Downtown Disney District in California, World of Disney will remain open during the renovation. Additionally, you can find great shopping in the recently opened Dream Boutique, as well as the Disney Home store opening February 2018 in the former D-Street location.

Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire

The new hyper-reality experience, Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID, has debuted to Guests at Disney Springs® at Walt Disney World® Resort, and is open at Downtown Disney® District at Disneyland® Resort. 

Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will transports you deep into the Star Wars universe, walking freely and untethered throughout the multi-sensory experience with friends and family. In groups of four, teams will go undercover as stormtroopers to capture Imperial intelligence vital to the budding rebellion’s survival.

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer Coming to Disneyland

Known for its award-winning burgers and signature CrazyShake™ milkshakes, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer will open its first California location in the heart of Downtown Disney® District at the Disneyland® Resort next year.

Black Tap is creating a customized concept for its Downtown Disney District location, which will feature indoor and outdoor seating. The burger and beer joint will be set in a casual atmosphere reminiscent of a classic American luncheonette, but with a distinctly New York feel.

Black Tap’s menu will include burgers ranging from the classic All-American to The Vegan Burger. In addition, their specialty “CrazyShakes” will boast whimsical and over-the-top decorations and flavors, such as The Cotton Candy Shake and The Bam Bam Shake.

Construction is scheduled to begin soon, across from Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar.

Dream Boutique at Downtown Disney District

From Belle to Moana, Minnie Mouse and more, now there’s something for every little dreamer at the Dream Boutique now open in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort. 

The Dream Boutique offers a wide variety of character apparel, stylish accessories, trendy headwear and other products created for Disney Parks. The location also carries role play costumes complete with matching accessories inspired by favorite Disney Princesses. A variety of plush and toys round out the product assortment found in this dreamy location. This newly reimagined space is a merchandise-only location.

Guests ages 3-12 seeking royal transformations into elegant princesses or shining knights, should visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique located inside Disneyland Park. Reservations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique can be made up to 60 days in advance and are highly recommended. Downtown Disney's Transformation

The Downtown Disney® District at Disneyland® Resort has recently undergone a sensational transformation. Along with recently opened new shops – PANDORA, Curl Surf, a second Starbucks location – the face of the Downtown Disney District is being refreshed with bursts of color throughout its pots and planters. More than 8,000 new plants have been added to the Downtown Disney District. Both Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria and Tortilla Jo’s have added additional outdoor seating, their respective new seating areas are enhanced with new pots and fresh, colorful plants. 

It’s all part of a plan to add new and exciting sights and sounds for Guests as they shop and dine in the Downtown Disney District, or simply as they walk through the area en route to the theme parks or Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. Along with the new landscaping – which will be refreshed seasonally – a new atmosphere soundtrack featuring Disney tunes in a variety of styles can now be heard.

In the morning, as you stroll (or rush) through Downtown Disney District to the theme park entrances, you will be welcomed by the classic sounds of Disney from movies and attractions. In the afternoon, the tunes take on a new energy with lively special arrangements of Disney melodies. And around sundown, the Downtown Disney District background music welcomes the night with cooler, jazzy and electronic sounds. All the music is Disney, but much of it is presented in ways you’ve never heard before.
