Disney Video: Slinky Dog Dash

Earlier this week, “Good Morning America” offered viewers a sneak peek inside Toy Story Land, the new land inspired by the “Toy Story” films that’s set to open on June 30, 2018 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. This sneak peak  included a new look at Slinky Dog Dash!

One of the land’s highly anticipated attractions, Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster themed as if Andy built it in his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit and some other favorite toys, including Jessie and Rex! As you can see in the new video below, the attraction’s ride vehicles – inspired by the character of Slinky in the film – will send riders dipping, dodging and dashing around turns.

Toy Story Land Opens June 30th!

We finally know when the highly-anticipated Toy Story Land will open!!!! This brand new land at Walt Disney World will open to Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® June 30, 2018!

When it opens, Guests visiting Toy Story Land will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other beloved toys are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, you can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit and topped off with Slinky and Jessie. (Check out the time-lapse video below of one of Slinky Dog Dash’s first test runs).

Families will also be able to take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won from Pizza Planet. Here, adorable little green aliens swirl about in their flying saucers with guests in tow in their rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs overhead.

You will also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a Guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more Guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games.

Woody’s Lunch Box – actually, Andy’s lunch box that he’s set on its side – will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting. The entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design.

Disney Video: Slinky Dog Dash Ready for Testing

Earlier this month, the first ride vehicle for Slinky Dog Dash, one of two major attractions planned for Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, arrived at the park.

The ride vehicle, which is themed after the character of Slinky from “Toy Story,” took Imagineers from multiple disciplines a few years to design, so the group was thrilled to see the finished product arrive on the site firsthand. According to the Imagineers, the vehicle was created to reflect Slinky’s personality, the movement and motion of a Slinky toy, and of course Slinky’s adorable look which will be visible throughout the land as the coaster moves along the track. Toy Story Land Model on Display at Hollywood Studios

Walt Disney Presents is the re-imagined version of the One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and has officially opens its doors to offer a new look at the past, present and future of Disney Parks.

One of the exciting pieces of the “future” that Walt Disney Presents showcases is a model of the park’s Toy Story Land expansion, which will be on display for Guests to view starting today. 

The Toy Story Land expansion, which will open in Summer 2018, will shrink Guests to the size of a toy and allow you to explore all the fun of Andy’s backyard, which as you can see in these images, has been delightfully filled with familiar toys and sights from the “Toy Story” films. 

You can also see some of the charming detail our Imagineers have created for this new land and its two major attractions – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers.

The Slinky Dog Dash attraction will be a family coaster themed as if Andy used his Mega Coaster Play Kit to build the ultimate coaster for Slinky. The land’s other major attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, has been designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, in which Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture guests’ rocket toy vehicles with “The Claw.”

But the Toy Story Land model isn’t the only exciting draw to Walt Disney Presents. Tracing Disney history from Walt Disney’s beginning sketches, photos and storyboards, the attraction celebrates milestones in Disney film and theme park history up through today and beyond. Expect to see models, maquettes, sketches, artist renderings, a portion of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge model, concept art for the new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction and more.

Walt Disney Presents will also continue to host greetings with characters like Star-Lord and baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, plus special sneak previews of upcoming Disney films.

Slinky Dog Dash Ride Vehicles Arrived at DHS!

The Slinky Dog Dash attraction, currently under construction in Toy Story Land, celebrated a major milestone today – National Slinky Day – with the reveal of the coaster’s first Slinky Dog ride vehicle.

Slinky Dog Dash is one of two major attractions coming to Toy Story Land, a 12-acre expansion that’s set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in Summer 2018. In Toy Story Land, you will shrink to the size of a toy and explore the world of Andy’s backyard on two fun family attractions – Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers. 

Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster themed as if Andy built it in his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit and some of his other favorite toys. The attraction’s ride vehicles, inspired by the character of Slinky in the film, will send riders dipping, dodging and dashing around turns and drops Andy has created to stretch Slinky’s coils to the max. 

The second attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers, is designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first “Toy Story” film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle using “The Claw.”
