Sneak Peek of Art Coming to Disney’s Riviera Resort

On his extended tours of Europe, Walt Disney fell in love with European art, architecture, food and, of course, stories. The art in Disney's Riviera Resort will reflect a European theme with a Disney twist! 

Here is a sneak peek of some of the European-themed art and décor that will be throughout the proposed Disney’s Riviera Resort when it opens in Fall 2019! Part of the sneak peek today is to show you some of the pieces as they will be displayed in some of the villas at the upcoming Disney Resort.



Throughout the resort and within the villas, you will experience a variety of art types including Disney concept art with European settings, posters of Disney films as released in Europe, archival photography of Walt’s travels throughout the region, and references to the ephemera and book titles Walt gathered on his journeys. 



Additionally, there will be more than 40 signature art pieces created just for Disney’s Riviera Resort featuring unique Disney character art inspired by the renowned artistic heritage found along the shores of the European Riviera. You will get to see so many of your favorite Disney characters reflected in the newly created master artistry, including Mickey and Minnie, and characters from “Beauty and the Beast,” Disney’s “Peter Pan,” “The Aristocats,” Disney●Pixar film “Ratatouille,” “The Princess and the Frog,” “Moana,” “Tangled,” “101 Dalmatians” and more.

MagicBand2 Update

Recently at Walt Disney World® Resort, MagicBand 2 was introduced. This new form of the original MagicBand is more versatile and customizable for Guests to unlock the magic of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

When you book a Walt Disney World Resort vacation and elect to receive MagicBands at home prior to arrival, you will receive a complimentary MagicBand 2. You still have the option to choose from the current eight colors: pink, blue, red, green, orange, gray, yellow and purple. Guests who pick up their MagicBands at the front desk upon check-in will receive the original MagicBand until early February.

The interior design of the MagicBand shipping box, as well as the cover of the "I’m Going to Walt Disney World" booklet (mailed after you link their reservation at StartYourExperience.com) now feature a new Cinderella Castle design.

Buzz Lightyear Animated Magic Shot

Now, when you join Star Command at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom® Park at Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll not only have the opportunity to purchase the attraction photo from Disney PhotoPass Service, but you’ll also be able to view an Animated Magic Shot featuring Buzz Lightyear. Take a look!



To access this Animated Magic Shot, you can use automatic photo association by wearing an active MagicBand during their mission, or they can associate their park admission card or Memory Maker card via the touch points at the preview wall at the end of the attraction. Either way, Star Command will link both an attraction photo and an Animated Magic Shot to their account.

While all Space Rangers can view this new Animated Magic Shot in their account in the My Disney Experience mobile app, or at MyDisneyPhotoPass.com, an active Memory Maker entitlement is required to download or share it.

New Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza Restaurant at Disney Springs

More Disney food news! A new restaurant is open at Walt Disney World! At Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza build-your-own pizzas made at crazy fast speed are the specialty!   The newest fast-casual restaurant in Town Center at Disney Springs™ features scratch-made dough and artisanal toppings – and two blazing hot ovens that turn out thin-crisp pies in 180 seconds.

The menu centers around custom-built pizzas (allowing Guests to pick the toppings) all for one price, with an interactive assembly line that lets you customize a pizza (or pick one of the Signature Pizzas). The 11-inch pizzas go into the blazing hot, open-flame oven and emerge with a light-as-air, crisp crust.

Dough is made in-house, and pizza and salad ingredients are free from artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. (And they offer gluten-free dough and vegan cheese).  Create your favorite or stick with a classic, like the Red Vine with Ovalini mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, Parmesan, basil, red sauce and olive oil drizzle.  Salads range from a classic Caesar to kale, quinoa and cranberries.Beverages include lemonades, aguas frescas, real cane sugar sodas plus beer and wine.

The spacious, 5,000-square-foot eatery features two open hearth ovens and seating for 200 (and accepts the Disney Dining Plan). Blaze Pizza was designed as part of the Disney Springs architecture to resemble an 1850s-era sawmill that’s been contemporized, and uses single-species wood in the open kitchen and ordering area, including lumber milled from a Cypress log felled more than 200 years ago and reclaimed from Florida’s Apalachicola River. A large covered patio with seating cantilevers over the waterfront.

I don't know about you - but I am excited to try this new pizza place! Plus outdoor eating, over the water? Sounds like it is going to be a must-do for future trips!

Sounds Like Summer Concert Series returns to Epcot® for 2016!

This summer at Walt Disney World® Resort, guests can rock out to sizzling tunes as the Sounds Like Summer Concert Series returns to Epcot®!

Every night through July 23, 2016, the America Gardens Theater in World Showcase rocks with live music from some of the best tribute bands in the world, including acts appearing at Epcot for the first time this year.

Here’s a look at this year’s lineup (entertainment and times are subject to change):

• June 5-11, 2016: Don’t Look Back – A Tribute to Boston
• June 12-18: Hotel California – A Salute to the Eagles
• June 19-24: Rumours – A Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band
• June 25-July 1: Simply Tina – A Tribute to Tina Turner
• July 2-9: Stayin’ Alive – A Tribute to the Bee Gees
• July 10-16: Bruce in the USA – A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen

Tiffins Restaurant and Nomad Lounge Opening Date

The countdown to the opening of the newest Disney signature restaurant at Walt Disney World® Resort – Tiffins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park - has begun! Tiffins will feature cuisine and beverages from places that inspired the creation of the Park and will open May 27th.
Tiffins is situated near Pizzafari on Discovery Island, near what will be the entrance to Pandora – The World of AVATAR, when it opens in 2017. (“Tiffin” is an Indian English word for a midday meal or a type of container used to carry food while traveling). Adjacent to Tiffins, Nomad Lounge features waterfront views in addition to hand-crafted cocktails with African, Asian and South American flavors; beers, and sustainable wines from those regions, plus specialty non-alcoholic beverages and small bites.

Tiffins will be open for both lunch and dinner, here’s a look at the menu for both Tiffins and Nomad Lounge.

The park’s culinary team is working on special dining packages which will begin May 28 at Tiffins and Tusker House Restaurant for the new limited-engagement nighttime show, The Jungle Book: Alive With Magic.

Similar to the popular Fantasmic! Dining Packages at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, the Dining Package includes reserved seating for the nighttime show. At all-you-care-to-eat Tusker House Restaurant, you can choose the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet on the day of the show (but you have to dine at least 2 1/2 hours before the show).  Breakfast is $37 for adults and $23 for children ages 3-9, plus tax and gratuity.  The Tusker House dining package for lunch and dinner will cost $49 for adults and $30 for children ages 3-9, plus tax and gratuity.  Tusker House Restaurant is on the Disney Dining Plan and counts as one table-service meal.

At Tiffins, the dining package includes the choice of appetizer, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage at either lunch or dinner. The Dining Package is $67 for adults, $32 for children ages 3-9, plus tax and gratuity. Tiffins is on the Disney Dining Plan and counts as two table-service meal credits.
