New ‘Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular’ Fireworks Debut Date

Several new Star Wars experiences have debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® at Walt Disney World® Resort over the past year, from the opening of Star Wars Launch Bay in December to the most recent additions of the Star Wars stage show “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away” and the daily march of Captain Phasma and her fleet of Stormtroopers earlier this spring. However, today I'm here to update you on the next exciting Star Wars experience that’s set to delight fans at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – the new Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.”

Starting June 17, 2016, this new nighttime show, which will be the most elaborate fireworks display in this park’s history. This elaborate show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the park’s Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. And the show, which will feature music from throughout the film franchise, will be punctuated with a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating a massive lightsaber in the sky.

New Character Experiences with Olaf and Mickey & Minnie Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Two new character greeting experiences will debut this spring at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®!  Guests of Walt Disney World® Resort will be able to step into scenes with some of their favorite Disney characters, as they live out their Hollywood dreams.

Coming in spring 2016 to the Echo Lake district at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the all-new Celebrity Spotlight, the perfect place for a dream encounter with one of Disney’s latest stars. At opening, you are invited into the Celebrity Spotlight to meet lovable snowman Olaf, from Disney’s blockbuster film “Frozen.” Olaf will be living his dream “In Summer,” chilling on the beach and ready with warm hugs for all his friends.

Also opening this spring is “Mickey and Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams,” located just off Commissary Lane near the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, where Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will live out their dreams of being A-list Hollywood stars. Guests will walk the red carpet and step into a scene with Minnie, where she appears as a Tinsel Town starlet in a ritzy setting straight out of a lush and colorful musical extravaganza. And, nearby Mickey portrays his iconic role of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice from “Fantasia.”

New Star Wars Nighttime Spectacular Announced, Set to Make Theme Park History

Here are the just released plans for a new Star Wars show currently in the works involving a stage show and procession, as well as a nighttime spectacular so elaborate it’s rumored to make Disney’s Hollywood Studios history. 

This new history-making show will officially start on April 4, with the debut of the brand new Star Wars stage show, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.”  The new show will play out iconic moments from the film saga on Center Stage (in front of the Chinese Theater), and will feature characters like Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul. 

Also starting April 4, Captain Phasma will begin leading a platoon of First Order stormtroopers on a march from Star Wars Launch Bay to Center Stage multiple times each day!

This summer, Star Wars fans won’t want to miss the grand debut of a new Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.” This new nightly show is the next generation of the current Star Wars-inspired fireworks show. The show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction now features new characters and planets from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.  Star Wars Launch Bay offers families an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes and more from the films, plus the chance to encounter with someone from Rebel Alliance or the Dark Side.  And young Padawans can put their bravery to the test at Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, which now features the character of the Seventh Sister from the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels.
