Sneak Peek at Star Wars Themed Lands

How about an update on the the progress of the Star Wars-themed lands being created at Walt Disney World® and Disneyland® Resorts?

These two new immersive lands will transport you to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life and where Guests will find themselves in the middle of the action.

There will also be two incredible new signature attractions: one that lets you take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

There is so much activity across the 14-acre construction sites as this new world is created. Here's a look at how things are shaping up!

New Concept Art for Disneyland's Star Wars Themed Land Released!

In April, Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts celebrated the official groundbreaking of Star Wars-themed lands.  Now Disneyland Park Guests can get a glimpse of this exciting and immersive experience.  A new image has been unveiled on the fence along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland - one of the entry points to this never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy - revealing more about what you will find in this all-new land.

Nestled between towering spires of rock, this thriving port contains a seemingly familiar architecture of markets, landing zones and buildings. Look closely and you may find hints of some of the thrilling experiences that are coming - like the Millennium Falcon peeking out of one of the cargo bays, marking the location where you'll get the opportunity to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

New Star Wars Nighttime Spectacular Announced, Set to Make Theme Park History

Here are the just released plans for a new Star Wars show currently in the works involving a stage show and procession, as well as a nighttime spectacular so elaborate it’s rumored to make Disney’s Hollywood Studios history. 

This new history-making show will officially start on April 4, with the debut of the brand new Star Wars stage show, “Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away.”  The new show will play out iconic moments from the film saga on Center Stage (in front of the Chinese Theater), and will feature characters like Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, Darth Vader and Darth Maul. 

Also starting April 4, Captain Phasma will begin leading a platoon of First Order stormtroopers on a march from Star Wars Launch Bay to Center Stage multiple times each day!

This summer, Star Wars fans won’t want to miss the grand debut of a new Star Wars fireworks show, “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.” This new nightly show is the next generation of the current Star Wars-inspired fireworks show. The show will combine fireworks, pyrotechnics, special effects and video projections that will turn the nearby Chinese Theater and other buildings into the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base and other Star Wars destinations. The show will be punctuated with a tower of fire and spotlight beams, creating massive lightsabers in the sky. This new show will be the most elaborate fireworks display to take place in the history of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

And don’t forget about the other recent Star Wars additions at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The Star Tours – The Adventures Continue attraction now features new characters and planets from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.  Star Wars Launch Bay offers families an up-close look at replica props, models, costumes and more from the films, plus the chance to encounter with someone from Rebel Alliance or the Dark Side.  And young Padawans can put their bravery to the test at Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, which now features the character of the Seventh Sister from the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels.

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show Closing Date

Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show and nearby locations around Streets of America at Disney's Hollywood Studios - part of Walt Disney World Resort - will be closing on April 2, 2016.  The Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show attraction will continue its daily shows until the closing date.  This show will be closing to make way for the highly anticipated Toy Story Land and Star Wars th

Some new details were released about the new lands.  Toy Story Land, will feature Andy’s backyard  that will come to life.  Guests will also be able to take a spin with the famous little green aliens in their very own flying saucers. A family-friendly roller coaster will also have you riding on the back of Slinky Dog.

The Star Wars-themed land will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet with new experiences that’ll include a customized secret mission on the Millennium Falcon and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts everyone in the middle of a climactic battle.

Get a Glimpse at the New Rivers of America Waterfront and Disneyland Railroad at Disneyland Park

The Rivers of America and the Disneyland® Railroad at Disneyland Park are temporarily closed as Disneyland Resort prepares to make room for the all-new Star Wars-themed land.

When these areas reopen, the north bank of the Rivers of America will feature a beautiful new waterfront. The new riverbank will also include an elevated trestle over which the Disneyland Railroad will travel. Take a look at this Walt Disney Imagineering artist rendering for a sneak peek!
